HOT OFF THE PRESS: The Rolls-Royce Bespoke Suhail Collection, four exceptional cars created especially for customers in the Capital, has arrived at the Abu Dhabi Motors Rolls-Royce showroom.
This is indeed a milestone in Rolls-Royce’s illustrious history as it is the first time that a Bespoke theme has been extended to the Phantom, Phantom Coupé, Ghost and Wraith.
Inspired by the Suhail star constellation, this eye-catchingly beautiful collection of models was conceptualised by Abu Dhabi Motors, the sole dealer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, before being hand-crafted by specialists at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England.
Highlighting the exclusivity and unique nature of the ultra-luxury marque’s renowned Bespoke Programme, the models are set to receive strong interest from local automotive enthusiasts seeking the pinnacle in luxury and individualisation.
The collection is named after one of the brightest stars in the sky. Suhail and its light is believed to have inspired poets and scientists throughout the ages, most signficantly a 10th Century Arabic mathematician, astronomer and physicist called Ibn al-Haitham.
As most of you know I am a big fan of this historical personality through our global travelling exhibition, Sultans of Science which is currently hosted in 2 venues in Turkey. Ibn al-Haitham features prominently in the astronomy cluster of the exhibition.
I first studied Ibn Haitham in my second BA in Islamic Sciences – it is great to know he continues to inspire creative designers even today. Ibn Haitham was the first to realise that light enters the eye rather than leaving it, amongst other considerable achievements, and as a result, has been lauded for his contribution to science. One of the region’s most revolutionary individuals, it is apt that the Suhail Collection pays homage to this historical Middle Eastern figure.
According to Mr. Arno Hussleman, the charismatic General Manager of Abu Dhabi Motors, “Ibn al-Haitham was a pioneer whose scientific achievements represented a turning point in the history of science. A number of high profile international events and activities have since taken place in tribute to his contributions to science and as such, we felt him and the Suhail constellation the perfect muse to create a very special Bespoke collection. It’s not difficult to see the synergies with Rolls-Royce; our vehicles are exceptional; they’re aspirational and go hand-in-hand with pioneering innovation. These cars celebrate those mutual qualities.”
A host of subtle touches have been added to the Rolls-Royce Phantom, Phantom Coupé, Ghost and Wraith to bring the spirit of Suhail alive in this extraordinary collection. The exterior of these astronomy inspired ultra-luxury vehicles sparkle in a unique moonstone pearl colour, featuring a Suhail star emblem completing the Turchese Blue coachline.
The interior continues the striking colour theme by elegantly combining Cremè Light leather with Turchese accents, framed by Navy Blue instrument panel top and carpets. Suhail star emblems can also be found inside, along with stars in the Starlight Headliner in Phantom and Wraith. The Bespoke clock, colour matched to the interior depicts the Suhail Ursa Minor and Major constellation on the clock face.
