Creta Reimagined: Hyundai’s Compact SUV Grows Up in Style

Shereen Shabnam

In the compact SUV segment, where practicality often trumps excitement, the new Hyundai Creta makes a compelling case by delivering both. With bold design updates, a more refined interior, and improved tech features, the latest iteration of this urban-friendly crossover confidently steps into the spotlight. After a recent test drive, it’s clear that Hyundai has struck a smart balance between style, efficiency, and real-world usability—especially for younger drivers and city-focused families.

Exterior

Hyundai has given the Creta a striking facelift, bringing its look in line with the brand’s latest global design language. We drove a white one so the design language really stood out. The front fascia features a bold parametric grille flanked by split LED headlamps that give the SUV an assertive, premium stance. Crisp body lines, a floating roof design, and new alloy wheel options give it an updated edge that feels far more upscale than its price point suggests.

Interior

Inside the car, the Creta reveals its new level of refinement. The cabin feels surprisingly spacious, with ample head and legroom even in the rear. Hyundai has gone for a clean, layered dashboard design, with soft-touch materials in key areas and ambient lighting adding a premium feel. Practicality is top of mind too, with well-placed storage spaces, USB ports in both rows, and a boot large enough to handle weekend getaways or the weekly shop with ease. Comfortable seating and excellent visibility make it a pleasant space to spend time in, whether you’re stuck in traffic or cruising down the highway.

Technology

My passenger was a Tech-savvy GenZ who appreciated the large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the crisp digital instrument cluster, and voice recognition. The Creta also features keyless entry, push-button start, and a sunroof in higher trims. Advanced driver-assistance systems like lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring help elevate safety—features rarely seen in this segment just a few years ago.

Performance

The Hyundai Creta is offered with a 1.5L engine mated to either a manual or CVT transmission. During our drive, the petrol version proved smooth and adequately responsive, perfect for city commutes and weekend drives. The suspension tuning is just right for everyday use, soaking up speed bumps and rougher surfaces without complaint. Steering is light yet accurate, making the Creta particularly easy to handle in tight urban environments. It’s not a performance SUV, but it is one of the most comfortable and composed in its class.

Final Verdict

The new Hyundai Creta is a testament to how far compact SUVs have come. It is no longer just about utility but about delivering a refined, enjoyable driving experience with smart technology and stylish flair. Whether you’re a first-time buyer, a small family, or someone seeking an efficient urban runabout with a premium feel, the Creta ticks all the right boxes.
